Adoption of Clean Energy Standard Acknowledges Nuclear as Clean, Green Energy

In passing the Clean Energy Standard (CES), New York is now the groundbreaking world leader in recognizing nuclear power’s crucial role in our energy portfolio and in the protection of our environment. The Public Service Commission’s support for nuclear plants in the CES means that we’re one step closer to achieving the ambitious and important goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent (from 1990 levels) by 2030.

July 2016 Was Dry – ‘Very Dry’

July 2016 was a warm, sunny and “dry, very dry month.” The average temperature last month was 73.0 degrees, according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service. However, he is quick to add that “it’s no biggie. We’re way down on the all-time warmest list of Julys.” Precipitation for July was a derisory 0.52-inch. Going back to 1844, July 2016 is the second driest on record.
