The Fulton City School District’s Universal Pre-Kindergarten program is focused on helping students develop math and literacy skills. That was accomplished during the recent fall 2016 UPK Family Night at the district’s education center.
Fairgrieve Elementary School staff members are committed to increased school-to-home communication and to engage parents in their child’s learning. This is being accomplished, in part, by the school’s Lunch and Learn programs where parents are invited to join their child at lunch to hear tips on how to help their child establish, reach and exceed academic and behavior goals.
The Fulton Board of Education was honored during School Board Recognition Week which is observed each year by more than 700 school districts throughout New York State, according to a resolution passed at Tuesday’s regular meeting. Superintendent Pulvino took a moment to also recognize another group of professionals within the district, school principals.
While the students are not old enough to donate blood, their promotion of and work for a recent blood drive at the school will help save dozens of people. As part of the first grade Listening and Learning domain about the human body, the blood drive served as a project-based learning activity.
On behalf of the Fulton Athletic Boosters, I would like to thank the members of the Fulton Lions Club, and the Fulton City Fire and Police departments for their assistance at our high school concession stand during the last two home Varsity football games.

State Police charged Justin J. Montana, 31 of Minetto, with Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance, Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors today (Oct. 25). Troopers charged Montana with two counts of Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance, a class C felony, and one count of Disseminating Indecent Material to a Minor 1st degree, a class D felony, following an investigation.
The annual parade, which began at the Maintenance Center on County Route 12, looped down Route 11 to Hillcrest Drive and then ended at the District Stadium, preluded the kickoff of the Central Square Redhawks homecoming football game against Watertown.

National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week, Oct. 23 – 29, focuses on the ways parents can reduce children’s exposure to lead in their environment and prevent serious side effects. This year’s theme, “Lead-Free Kids for a Healthy Future,” underscores the importance of having children tested for lead poisoning, and learning how to prevent lead poisoning’s serious health effects.
