SUNY Oswego recently earned Military Times’ Best for Vets ranking for the third consecutive year, just as it announced a Veterans Day observance that will feature dedication of a Battle Buddy Center promoting camaraderie among veterans attending the college.
Oswego City School District Superintendent Dr. Dean Goewey was a recent guest at Oswego Rotary. Dr. Goewey presented information on the district’s vision, mission and current state of affairs.
Residents are encouraged to gather leaves, pumpkins, branches etc and leave them by the side of the road. The Hannibal Town trucks will pick up the items at 7 a.m. Nov. 9.
Alaina Celeste of the RIT women’s cross-country team earned 2016 Liberty League Fall All-Academic Team honors. Liberty League commissioner Tracy King announced that 573 fall sport student-athletes have qualified for the 2016 All-Academic Teams in their respective sports.
Fulton Sunrise Rotary recently donated two benches to the Veterans’ Memorial Park. The purchase of the benches was made possible by a matching grant received from Rotary District 7150.
A romantic battle over a personalized license plate, a modern take on an age-old faerie tale, six high school students locked in a high school on a hell mouth, and New Jersey’s own cult superhero – The Toxic Avenger – are part of the offerings coming in 2017 as Fulton Community Theatre proudly announces its 27th season.
Lorraine Wontkowski received a certificate of appreciation for 25 years of service from the Oswego County Legislature’s Human Services Committee.
“Adapting means we cut or we trade this for that. We tend to be bartering within our own districts. We’re adapting to the situation and there’s not a lot of value added there. All we’re really doing is trying to make sure we’re putting out the best program we can for kids,” he explained. “What I’m proposing – it’s an out there thought – is we stop adapting and we start evolving. Evolution is adapting with some value added.” He proposes doing a large regionalized study looking at programs and program equity; try to do our best looking at fiscal projections.
The H. Lee White Maritime Museum at Oswego, located in Oswego’s “Historic Maritime District” on the West First Street Pier, is offering children an opportunity to get in the holiday spirit by attending our Gingerbread Craft Workshop on November 13 between 2 – 3 p.m.
Each month, the Fulton Noon Rotary Club invites students from Fulton High School for lunch. Student activities chairperson, Judy Young served as MC for the program.
