Sandra Scott Travels: Malta Rebuilt Following Thousands of Bombing Raids

Many things about Malta surprised me. First of all I was surprised to learn that it was one of the most intensely bombed places during World War II. After the war, reconstruction remained true to the Maltese architecture. Because Malta has retained its architectural integrity and has some unique geological formations, the island has been used in many movies such as “Troy” and “Conan.” I was also surprised that Malta does not get more coverage as a must-do destination in Europe.

College’s Scales Hall To Undergo Contemporary, Sustainable Renovation

Scales Hall, at 55 years old the last of four SUNY Oswego residence halls built on the Lakeside area of campus, will follow in the footsteps of Waterbury Hall, undergoing a $13.1 million renovation scheduled to begin Dec. 19. The project should be done by July 1, following completion of work by Oswego-based general contractor PAC Associates.

Oswego County’s Search and Rescue Team the Subject of New Book

The river’s end bookstore will host the debut of a new local history book, “Pioneers: The Story of Oswego County’s Search and Rescue Team.” To help launch the book, the store is welcoming former and current members of the team and the book’s author, Jim Farfaglia, who describes the group as “one of Central New York’s best-kept secrets.”
