Half-Shire Historical Society News – December 8, 2016

The holiday season sees a burst in publishing with three new books out in the Half-Shire region. The new History of Oswego County, prepared by all of the town, city and village historians throughout 2016, will be available after December 15. The 192-page, fully-illustrated book is available in hardcover ($20 plus $3 for postage) or paperback ($10, plus $3 postage) through Half-Shire.

Hannibal High School Students Inducted Into National Honor Society

The Hannibal High School chapter of the National Honor Society doubled in size recently as 17 new members were inducted into the prestigious organization. Inductees were celebrated by an audience of their peers, teachers and family members who gathered in the Lockwood Auditorium for the ceremony welcoming them into the Sadie Adamy chapter of NHS.

Governor Cuomo Deploys State Resources To Prepare For Lake Effect Snowstorm

Governor Andrew Cuomo today (Dec. 7) directed the Office of Emergency Management, State Police, the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, the Office of Fire Prevention and Control, the Department of Transportation and the Thruway Authority to enhance monitoring and prepare to deploy resources for lake effect snow that will impact parts of Western and Northern New York into Central New York and the Mohawk Valley through Saturday morning.
