More than 500 students achieved the grades necessary to achieve Dean’s List honors during the fall 2016 semester at SUNY Canton. This honor is awarded to full-time students who have earned a grade point average between 3.25 and 3.74.

Volney Elementary second graders are helping to bring back Atlantic salmon to the region by raising salmon eggs at school. With the help of their teachers, the young students have been tasked with a daily recording of water temperature, temperature units (the water temperature minus 32 degrees), and the number of live eggs.
After high school, Joshua Peacock of Mexico earned his bachelor’s degree at Hobart & William Smith in Geneva. Then he headed to Washington, DC to get his master’s at Georgetown. Driven to do more, he joined the Peace Corps.

Norma J. Burton, 90, of Pennellville, NY, passed away on Tuesday January 10, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center, Syracuse, NY.
