Roughly 30 volunteers came together to work with Friends of Fulton Parks to honor Earth Day (April 22) by cleaning the area along the Oswego River and Fulton’s Veterans Park. As part of the Parks & Trails NY and NYS Canal Corporation’s volunteer event, Canal Clean Sweep, Friends of Fulton Parks organized a local Canal Clean Sweep for the city of Fulton, the fourth year participating. “I’m just proud to be a part of this community where people come together for things like this,” said FoFP founder, Kelley Weaver. Volunteers of all ages cleaned the Canal Landing Marina in Fulton along the Oswego River from the downtown gazebo to the public library.
The event will be held May 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and May 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.at the church, which is located at 758 State Route 176, just west of Fulton.
Oswego County Legislator Daniel LeClair, District 8, presented representatives from Oswego County Opportunities Services to Aid Families Program with a certificate proclaiming April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month in Oswego County.

At the request of its nine component school districts, the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation will unveil a full-day regional technical high school this fall. The traditional half-day CTE model will still exist, but the new regional technical high school option will offer innovative instruction to ninth through 12th grade students in a non-traditional education setting.

SUNY Oswego’s third annual OzFest will feature an evening concert headlined by DNCE and a day full of games, food and fun on May 5. DNCE, a pop band featuring Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, is perhaps best known for its top-ten 2015 single “Cake by the Ocean.” The concert also will feature rapper A-Boogie, whose debut EP “TBA” peaked at No. 63 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and earned a spot on Rolling Stone’s 40 Best Rap Albums of 2016.
