Helen V. Bracy

OSWEGO, NY – Helen V. Bracy, a resident of the town of Scriba, passed away on Thursday April 20, 2017, at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.

Born in Baldwinsville, she was a daughter of the late John J. and June M. (Hewitt) Jessmore.

Helen was a graduate of Oswego High School.

She married Charles K. Bracy August 26, 1950.

Helen retired from the Business Department at SUNY Oswego after 23 years of service as a secretary in several departments.

Helen enjoyed gardening for many years and cherished time spent with her family.

Surviving are two sons, Charles (Brenda) Bracy Jr. of Sandy Pond and Daniel Bracy of Scriba; three daughters,Teresa (William) Somers of Granby, Mary Jane (Timothy) Collins of Scriba and Joan (Timothy Lawton) Bracy of Scriba; four grandchildren, Eric (Sophie Balzora) Siddall of Manhattan, Edwin “Ted” Winkworth of Mount Pleasant, Utah, Jennifer (William) Bagdan of Charlotte, N.C., and Elizabeth (Kevin) Bracy-Smith of Baton Rouge La.; three great-granddaughters, Sydney and Jillian Kauffman and Olivia Fontenot; two sisters, Evelyn Knoop of Scriba and Lorraine Pagano of Liverpool; and several nieces and nephews.

Helen was predeceased by her husband, Charles, in 2008; a grandson, Brian Winkworth; a sister, Eileen Hannon; and an infant brother, Richard Jessmore.

Funeral services are private.

Burial will be in Saint Peter’s Cemetery.
