Governor Andrew Cuomo today (April 19) announced that $28.8 million has been awarded to seven supportive housing projects across New York State, allowing the construction of 252 housing units for homeless New Yorkers. Oswego County Opportunities – $909,767 and Housing Visions Unlimited – $2.97 million
St. Luke Health Services in Oswego will host a workshop featuring Dr. Renante Ignacio, who will discuss advance care planning and advanced directives. The workshop will take place on May 10 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in the Riverview Room at St. Luke. The workshop is free of charge and the public is invited to attend.

A month-long lesson on the American Revolution recently culminated in a living history museum at Michael A. Maroun Elementary School. Students in Aimee Brooker’s fourth grade class studied key figures, battles, dates and other historical events tied to the Revolutionary War.
The first half of the game we played very good defense but we did not take care of the ball on the offensive side the way we needed to. Half time we were able to chat and change our game plan up and needed to see the field better offensively. The second half we stuck with it and maintained better possessions and moved the ball better than we did in the first half.
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that work is under way on $22.7 million in highway improvements in Central New York, including a $10.8 million project to repair the bridges carrying I-81 over Route 11 in the town of Salina, with work scheduled to be completed this year. Several projects are set for Oswego County, also.

The Oswego City School District’s 2017-18 budget is nearly done. However, the tentative $82,938,392 spending plan still contains a 2.8 percent tax increase. “Our goal is to create a tax increase that will be supported by the community and I think we’re almost there,” Superintendent Dr. Dean Goewey said Tuesday night. “We’ve made progress in the last week.”
