Having already discovered more than 3,000 exoplanets around other stars, astronomers now believe the stars of the Milky Way galaxy could have about a trillion planets, according to Dr. Scott Roby, director of the college’s planetarium.
SUNY Oswego’s Mentor-Scholar program recently welcomed Red Creek Middle School students to campus for an immersive experience within the college’s arts, media and technology facilities. Members of the Child Advocacy Center’s Multi-Disciplinary Team were recently recognized at the agency’s annual meeting for their extraordinary investigative efforts. Over the past year the CAC served 497 children, provided 3,000 therapy sessions, and forensically investigated more than 195 cases.
Prior to the start of Tuesday’s board of education meeting, a ceremony was held to honor someone who has made significant contributions to the district for more than six decades – and is still contributing to this day. John Canale is a person that has served the district in just about every capacity for 66 years, Superintendent Dr. Dean Goewey pointed out.

Exceptional effort in the classroom, academic excellence and character were in focus during a SPARK Award ceremony at John C. Birdlebough High School in mid-April. Nearly three dozen students received recognition through the awards program for the third marking period.

A free, public support group meeting will feature guest speaker Jared Croy from Advanced Recovery Systems beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 20. The meeting will take place at the Sweet Memorial Building located at 455 Main Street in Phoenix.
