The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association is proud to honor an Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Elementary School first grader for his fundraising work with Jump Rope For Heart. David Holst raised more than $3,000 this year to help fight heart disease and stroke this year.
A group of 11 GRB students joined about 700 of their peers from FBLA chapters throughout the state to compete in over 75 categories which demonstrated career competencies, business knowledge, job skills and leadership skills.
Assemblyman Will Barclay and Sen. Patty Ritchie recently enjoyed a performance by Mexico High School’s Jazz Choir in the South Concourse in Albany. The students and their instructor, Hope Greco-Gaham, visited the Capitol to celebrate Music in Our Schools Month.
State Senator Patty Ritchie has announced that she is now accepting nominations for the New York State Senate’s “Veterans Hall of Fame.” This program is designed to honor veterans across the Empire State who have made an impact in both their civilian and military lives.
Oswego Harborfest announces auditions for the 2017 Children’s Musical. Auditions will be held on April 24 and 25 form 5 until 7 p.m. at the McCrobie Building on Lake Street. Students in grade five through 10 are invited and may audition on either evening.
Standing at the 1886 Malt House in Volney today, U.S. Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer pushed the U.S. Department of Agriculture to expand access to malt barley crop insurance to growers across New York State. He explained that there are currently only four counties that have access to federally backed malt barley insurance coverage in New York State, even though farmers in other states have broad coverage.
Groups of students were tasked with cleaning fryer oil dyed with cocoa powder off of feathers to give them the essence of helping animals affected by an oil spill. Students also had to separate oil from water to simulate a clean-up effort in the ocean.
Mikel’s Auto Repair and Sales, located on Klocks Corner’s Road in Oswego, has donated a gift certificate in support of the annual “Bundle of Bucks” Charity Raffle Drawing Party taking place May 6. The gift certificate will be one of many prizes up for grabs at the event; including the big drawing for cash prizes totaling $25,000.
Fulton students, families and community supporters packed the GRB auditorium for the annual Bodley’s Got Talent showcase, presented by the Hope Club. More than $1,000 was raised for the local charity of Oswego County Opportunities, the national charity of Make-A-Wish Foundation and the international charity of Volunteers for Peace.
Heading into the half with a lead allowed us some breathing room and coming out in the second half we knew we just needed to play good possession lacrosse to stay on top. Second half we had to maintain our composer as the snow started to come down and made the field a little bit difficult for us to get ground balls, but we overcame that without any issues.
