Rick Sivers was a recent guest at Oswego Rotary to promote the upcoming Bemelman’s Festival, May 12 – 20. You ask what is a Bemelman? Ludwig Bemelman was the author of the “Madeline” series of books. Bemelman was also a Private in the US Army and was stationed at Fort Ontario in 1917.
Memorial Day Salute Poster Winners Named
The 36th Annual Memorial Day Salute Committee recently announced the winners of the Poster Contest held to create a patriotic poster in keeping with the theme “Stars and Stripes Forever.” Taking first place as the winner of this year’s poster contest is Stacey Sereno with second place going to Victoria Izyk.
SUNY Oswego Welcomes Appointment of Dr. Kristina Johnson as 13th Chancellor
The State University of New York Board of Trustees announced the appointment of Dr. Kristina M. Johnson as the 13th chancellor of SUNY, the largest comprehensive system of public higher education in the United States. Johnson is a former Johns Hopkins University provost, Duke University dean of the Pratt School of Engineering and U.S. undersecretary of energy.
