On April 30, Oswego will be host to the CNY Healthy Family Expo an expansion from the Healthy Baby Expo that successfully ran for the previous five years. This year’s CNY Healthy Family Expo will take place at the Lake Ontario Conference Center at 26 E. First St. from noon to 4 p.m.
Academic, social and behavioral achievements were celebrated at Fairgrieve Elementary recently, as several students received Most Improved awards. The recipients’ accomplishments were cheered by their friends, school personnel and family members during a recent Morning Express program.
Hundreds of local student-athletes are preparing for the third annual Oswego County Olympiad Invitational, set for May 11 at John C. Birdlebough High School. The event, similar to the Special Olympics, provides students with disabilities an opportunity to participate in dozens of athletic events.
The fourth annual Paige’s Pajamarama at the elementary school allowed the extended Fairley family to dress up in pajamas for the day, in exchange for a donation to the cause.
For the past 26 years Oswego County Opportunities’ Homeless Services has been a safe haven for abused and maltreated youth in Oswego County. OCO Homeless Services provides 24-hour emergency services and shelter to youth. Through a supportive, nurturing environment that empowers youth to gain the responsibility and decision making skills to attain their goals and have a successful future.
The honor is presented to seniors who have earned a grade point average of 3.6 or above and, thus far, have sustained this academic achievement throughout their Elmira College career.

Oswego Health Welcomes Physician Assistant Rahul Shinde to its advanced orthopedics team. Shinde earned his physician assistant degree from Upstate Medical Center last year, graduating with high honors.
Oswego City Councilor Nathan Emmons (R-3rd Ward) has officially announced he is running for County Legislator in the 15th District in Oswego County. The 15th District represents the west side of the city of Oswego including parts of the First, Third and Fifth wards. The 15th District position is currently held by Jake Mulcahey, a Democrat, who has announced he will not seek re-election.
