Festival Celebrates Bemelmans’ Times At Fort Ontario, Anniversary of World War I

From 1917 to 1919, Fort Ontario served as General Hospital #5 where sick and wounded soldiers from army camps in the U.S. and the fighting in Europe were brought for followup surgeries, rehabilitation, and convalescence. Ludwig Bemelmans, author of the Madeline books, served as a Private at Fort Ontario at that time.

Larry Wight Stays Hot Grabbing Fulton Speedway Modified Victory

Larry Wight, fresh off his second straight win Friday night at the Brewerton Speedway, saw “Lightning” strike again Saturday at the Fulton Speedway when he raced to victory lane, sweeping the Brewerton and Fulton weekend. In the 35-lap Tracey Road Equipment Modified feature, Wight was a driver on a mission as he took the lead on lap 10 and never looked back.

Youth, Veterans, Fire Department Work Together To Place Graveside Flags For Veterans

For the fourth year, the Fulton boys’ lacrosse team paired with the Fulton American Legion to place flags on the graves of all buried veterans resting at Mount Adnah and St. Mary’s cemeteries. Put together along with the cooperation and guidance of the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc. and Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, the group has grown to incorporate more volunteers. This year, the Fulton Fire Department volunteered its time as several firefighters participated to help honor the heroes that have made the ultimate sacrifice. For the youth, veterans, firemen, all individuals who participated, the consensus was clear: it’s an honor.

Fort Ontario Ghost Tours Visits Fulton Lions Club

Caroline Lamie, office manager and ghost tours coordinator for Fort Ontario, made a presentation at the Fulton Lions Club’s May meeting.
Lamie shared photos and electronic voice phenomenon recordings of paranormal activity at the fort, Syracuse’s Landmark Theatre, the Fulton Public Library and other local landmarks.

No matter how one gets to Asia, it is a long, arduous trip. Flights to Bangkok are often the best deal. During our three-plus months in SE Asia we fly through Bangkok several times; sometimes via Suvarnbhumi Airport, usually referred to as Bangkok International airport. The other airport is Don Mueang International. I love it when our flights arrive at Suvarnabhumi because we stay at the Novotel at the airport.
