“Lightning” Larry Wight lived up to his nickname Saturday night at the Fulton Speedway parking his FX Caprara Chevy/Tracey Road Equipment/NAPA Auto Parts/Penske Racing Shocks/No.99L in victory lane. Wight started the 35-lap Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modified feature in 17th place.
A full moon certainly made for an interesting Saturday night at Oswego Speedway this past weekend and at the end of the evening it was North Carolina’s Keith Shampine and Ohio’s Dave Shullick Jr. going to victory lane in Twin 35 action for the Novelis Supermodifieds, each earning their second career wins.
Most people believe the right way to retire an American Flag is to burn it – whole. However, that is not entirely correct. On Saturday, historic Fort Ontario hosted several representatives of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Oswego Lodge #271 as well as a large contingent of Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. They conducted a U.S. flag retirement program outside the entrance of old fort Ontario.

Remember the days of the Longaberger home parties? I do; however, I never bought one. Ten years ago when John and I were in Ohio, we stopped in Newark to see the World’s Largest Basket. It was actually the corporate headquarters for the Longaberger Company. The building is still there but sadly it is unoccupied and will be auctioned off with the starting bid – if you are interested – equal to the $700,000 tax debt. The building cost $32 million to build in 1997.
