Local Playwrights To Stage Fundraiser For H. Lee White Maritime Museum

“Hot Gold,” an original play by Dr. Michael S. Nupuf and Laura B. Lowrie (presented with special arrangements by Theatre Du Jour), comes to the Port City this September. Adapted from the book “Hot Gold” by Steve Abbott and Dr. John Fountain, the show, the third in the trilogy – of Detective LaFleur mysteries, will be presented in a dinner theatre format and will benefit the Maritime Museum – Stewards of the Oswego lighthouse.

Salmon River Fishing Museum Hosts Free Seminar and Tournament for Kids Sept. 17

The Salmon River International Sport Fishing Museum, 3044 State Route 13, Pulaski, will host a free kids’ fishing seminar and tournament from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 17. Outdoor writer Spider Rybaak, carp fishing guide Mike McGrath and museum president Mike Riordan will host the event and provide basic fishing tips to visitors.

Getting Ready For Fun At The Fair

Even though the summer season may be starting to wind down, there is still plenty of fun to be had. In this month’s “Community Spotlight,” I am highlighting a summer tradition, the Great New York State Fair, which kicks off, Wednesday, August 23, and runs through Monday, September 4, at the fairgrounds in Syracuse. Drawing visitors of all ages – including a record 1,117,630 people last year – the Great New York State Fair features something for everyone.

Council Committee Paves Way For More Roadwork

At Monday night’s Administrative Services Committee meeting, councilors paved the way for more road work in the Port City. They gave a favorable recommendation to a request for Change Order No. 1 for additional milling and paving work to be performed under the 2017 Milling and Paving Project in the amount of $227,200 with Riccelli Enterprises. It would increase the cost of the project to $725,200.
