More EEE Found in Oswego County; Health Department Plans Aerial Spraying
The Oswego County Health Department reported today (August 16) that Eastern equine encephalitis virus was found in three samples of bird-biting mosquitoes collected last week in Oswego County. EEE was detected for the second time this year near Toad Harbor Swamp in Constantia, where two mosquito samples tested positive, and for the first time this year in the Toad Harbor Swamp in West Monroe. Due to these findings, the Oswego County Health Department is taking the necessary steps to conduct aerial spraying of 10,000 acres in and around the Toad Harbor Swamp.
