The Mexico Academy & Central School District sought to educate and motive students throughout the summer months to help them carry successes and achievements to the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year. A couple hundred MACS students, from kindergartners up to high schoolers, enjoyed summer learning activities which targeted instruction, recovery of credits and/or social-emotional growth.
The Children’s Museum of Oswego is delighted to announce that it has received a generous $10,000 gift from C’s Farm Market and Beverage Center for the Build, Play, Grow Campaign. Emma Warren of Fulton has been selected to receive the Presidential Award for Diversity and Leadership to attend SUNY Oneonta. The college’s award of $6,470 annually will help Warren to pursue a bachelor’s degree beginning in the fall 2017 semester.
Rehearsals are under way for the Oswego Canal Play to be performed on Friday, August 18, at 8 p.m. on the West First Street Pier at historic Derrick Boat 8 of the H. Lee White Maritime Museum. This bicentennial one-act play was researched and written by Rick Sivers and is part of the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the construction of the Erie and Oswego canals.
