OSWEGO – The Children’s Museum of Oswego is delighted to announce that it has received a generous $10,000 gift from C’s Farm Market and Beverage Center for the Build, Play, Grow Campaign.
The gift will support the fabrication of an agriculture exhibit that aims to celebrate Central New York’s main crops: apples, onions and corn.

The exhibit will feature a pretend apple orchard, farming and gardening areas and bushel baskets to harvest fruits and vegetables to sort for sale at the farmers’ market.
Other main attractions will be a large barn, full-size tractor complete with tools for maintenance check-ups and apple cider pressing activities.
Jillian Shaver, executive director of CMOO said, “Through interaction with our agriculture exhibit, CMOO hopes to excite youth about local, fresh food and healthy eating. The activities within this exhibit area will also help to open up a dialogue about nutrition, teach children about different types of produce, and ultimately pique their curiosity about where their food comes from. Oswego County has struggled with high rates of childhood obesity and markers of unhealthy lifestyles for the past decade. We feel it is our responsibility at the children’s museum to address issues that face children in our community in a fun, developmentally appropriate way and help them to build creative solutions.”
Maria Johnson, owner of C’s Farm Market said, “We are thrilled to be able help educate the children of our community about the importance of farming and being healthy by eating more fruits and vegetables.”
C’s Farm Market & Beverage Center is located behind Fajita Grill off Route 104 West in Oswego and specializes in fresh fruit and vegetable delivery to local schools and restaurants, custom fruit baskets and a unique selection of beer and malt beverages
Shaver added, “We are extremely pleased to have C’s support for our Build, Play, Grow Campaign. Dave and Maria have been great partners over the past four years providing fruits and vegetables for the Children’s Museum’s Power of Produce program at the Oswego Farmers’ Market and we couldn’t be more pleased to see their commitment make a lasting impact with a permanent agriculture exhibit within the museum.”
CMOO is seeking additional sponsors for exhibit spaces within the museum.
If you or your business is interested in this opportunity, please contact the museum at 315-216-6387.
