Parishes across the seven-county Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse will participate in the annual Light is On for You campaign on December 18. Parishes generally offer extended hours for the Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession) on one evening during Advent and Lent. Participating parishes will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
The long anticipated list of rules changes for Oswego Speedway’s Small Block Supermodified division was revealed to race teams on Friday night with one big change included; which is the addition of a voluntary 602 crate engine program for 2018 which will be mandatory for the 2019 season.
Chad Dunham a History and Anthropology major from Central Square, NY was a member of the 2017 SUNY Oneonta men’s cross country team. The team competed in eight meets this fall and finished in second place at the SUNYAC Championships and 11th at the NCAA Atlantic Region Championships.
The closure has been extended by an extra week due to a delay in construction. The Oswego and Volney locations will continue to be open extra days while repairs are being made to the Hannibal facility.
A Scriba resident who purchased property in October recently received solicitations from two companies based in Albany, NY. The companies offered to provide a “property assessment profile” or a “property report” and a copy of the deed for $87. “This information is public record and available on our website. Please don’t waste $87 for this free information,” said Real Property Director Betsy Knapp.
Most people’s medicine cabinets contain either expired or unwanted over-the-counter and/or prescription drugs. With the rise in prescription drug abuse, in particular opioids, keeping these medications in the home isn’t safe. Fortunately, thanks to recent federal, state, and local efforts, more opportunities have been created to help people safely dispose of unwanted drugs.
Kathryn Cocciole, director of the Adult Day Health Services Program, welcomed families and friends to the memorial program, which has become a yearly tradition at the facility. More than two dozen concerned citizens spent their lunch hour Friday (Dec. 8) holding an informational picket outside Oswego City Hall. The group sought to highlight the cons of the proposed GOP tax plan.
Some, armed with signs, went into City Hall to see if anyone was working in Congressman John Katko’s office. No one was working and the office was locked. Later, they patrolled the west side of West First Street to get their message out to pedestrians and motorists.
The No. 4/4 Oswego State men’s ice hockey team was nearly untouchable for 60 minutes in a 5-2 victory at Plattsburgh on Saturday night at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena. With the triumph, the Lakers stay perfect in league play at 6-0-1 and move to 8-1-1 overall while the Cardinals drop to 5-7-0, 3-6-0.
