2016 Brought Good News for Fitz, Pension Reform, Infrastructure Dollars to Upstate

Looking back at 2016, there are many accomplishments worth noting and other items that remain on the to-do list. After a tumultuous year, the community finally received good news August 9 that FitzPatrick would remain operational and that Exelon had reached an agreement to purchase FitzPatrick from Entergy. This announcement came after the new Clean Energy Standard was adopted by the Public Service Commission.

OMS Students Help Needy Stay Warm

During the month of December, the Oswego Middle School advisory classes worked diligently making hats, mittens, and scarves for the “Warm Hands, Warm Heads, Warm Hearts” winter apparel drive. The students created the apparel for the people of our community who may be in need this winter season.

2016 In Review: In October – Great Pumpkins, Super Dirt and Golden Bucs

Karl Haist returned to the champion’s podium in a big way at the Great Pumpkin fest in October. Parades are noted as slow with many breaks. That wasn’t the case as nearly 30 Modifieds, Small Blocks, Sportsmen and Pro Stocks started off at City Line Road, headed to East Tenth Street and then up the Utica Street hill before turning on to West First Street, right on Bridge and headed back to the Oswego Speedway pits. The Marching Bucs competed in the New England School Bands Association competition held at Wakefield High School in Massachusetts. They won the entire show with a score of 88.3 and received a gold rating.
