There seems to be a substantial amount of confusion as to what effect the newly enacted Federal Tax bill will have on residents of New York state. In order to understand the effects the federal tax legislation will have on New Yorkers, there needs to be a general understanding of how the federal income tax system works.
Anglers fishing the 2018 NYS Winter Classic Fishing Tournament can visit three local businesses — All Seasons Sports and Salmon River Sports Shop in Pulaski, and App’s Bait and Tackle in Cleveland — to register and weigh in their catches. The statewide event includes all waterways of NY State, allows anglers to use any legal angling methods and includes seven main categories of fish plus an overall award for the largest burbot caught this year.
The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team put on an offensive show on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Utica Pioneers 5-2. With the win, the Lakers improve to 6-7 this season and the Pioneers move to 7-5. A little more than 13 minutes into the first period, the Lakers captured the lead.

The No. 4 Oswego State men’s ice hockey team fell 4-1 to Manhattanville College in the title game of the PathFinder Bank Hockey Classic on Saturday night in the Marano Campus Center Arena. Oswego is now 10-3-1 on the year while the Valiants go to 8-4-2.
The Oswego State men’s basketball team took just its second SUNYAC loss of the season in a tough 68-64 road battle at Oneonta on Saturday afternoon. With the slip-up, the Lakers drop to 7-6 overall and 4-2 in the league while the Red Dragons improve to 7-5, 3-3.
Raymond J. Fauler, 99, of Fulton, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018, at home.
