SUNY Oswego Students Apply Wellness Skills At Senior Residence
Health promotion and wellness students from a SUNY Oswego class gave St. Francis Commons residents a zest for life last fall with a Zestful Living exercise and nutrition program that continues this spring. St. Francis Commons at St. Luke, an assisted living residence at 12 Burkle St. in Oswego, opened in 2013 for older adults who wish to be independent and active, but may need help with daily activities.

Election Day Changes Unnecessary and Costly
The Assembly Majority is once again advancing an early voting bill through committees with a vote expected on the floor in the near future. The Governor is also making his push for early voting in his budget this year. While there are slight differences between the two proposals, both would result in another unfunded mandate and change our current system when it does not need to be changed.
Oswego St. Baldrick’s Event Seeks Volunteers To Go Bald to Support Childhood Cancer Research
More than 100 “shavees” are expected to shave their heads to raise money for lifesaving childhood cancer research, Dan Witmer, event organizer, told Oswego County Today. Every two minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide. And, in the U.S. one in five kids diagnosed won’t survive. Those who do survive often suffer long-term effects from treatments too harsh for their developing bodies.

Vacant Oswego House Damaged By Fire
UPDATE: West Bridge Street remains closed between West Eighth Street and Liberty Street. Crews are working to reopen the street soon.
Firefighters responded to a fire at a vacant house on West Bridge Street, between Lathrop and Northwest Ninth streets, early this morning (Feb. 11). There was some major damage to the roof and second floor of the structure. No injuries have been reported.
