Our region is home to nearly 30,000 selfless men and women who proudly wore the uniform and fought for our nation’s freedom. Every time I think about the adversity our military veterans faced during their service, and the sacrifices they and their families have made, I am inspired. I also know I am not alone. This region, our home, is one that takes tremendous pride in our veterans and their families.

Hearings Set On Oswego Proposed Local Laws

Mayor Billy Barlow proposed Local Law No. 1 of 2018. It would aggressively increase the enforcement, fines and penalties for property maintenance issues such as tall grass, un-shoveled sidewalks, exposed garbage and other violations. The public will have its chance to weigh in on the proposal at 7:05 p.m. March 12. A public hearing on proposed Local Law No. 2 of 2018 was also set for 7:10 p.m. on March 12. The local law would amend Chapter 249, Vacant and Occupied Property Maintenance.

Fulton Eyes Free School Meals Program

Fulton City School District officials are eyeing a possibility to enter a program allowing free breakfast and lunches for all students in the district. The Community Eligibility Provision under the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 allows high-poverty schools or entire districts to offer all students breakfast and lunch for no charge due to funding from state and federal sources.
