The panel of judges has been secured for The Next Great Idea 2018 Oswego County Business Plan Competition, according to Austin Wheelock, deputy director for Operation Oswego County and co-chair of NGI. “The Next Great Idea is the result of business and community leaders joining together to launch a competition that encourages entrepreneurs to commit to new business development in Oswego County and offers a $50,000 prize to help make a dream come true,” Wheelock said.
Similar lessons and attitudes both inside and outside of New Haven Elementary School may provide the students with a more positive outlook on life and themselves.

Traditionally, men have dominated the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). However, over the last decade or so, women are not only getting involved, they are finding out just how successful they can be in each and every one of these fields. That is why I encourage you to join me this month of March to celebrate “Expanding Girls’ Horizons in STEM Month.”
Students from Granby, Lanigan, Fairgrieve and Volney elementary schools will read “The One and Only Ivan” with a parent or other positive role model, as the district will serve as a conduit for reading at home.
Committee members OK’d City Attorney Kevin Caraccioli’s request to enter into a sports management contract with Champions Events in Syracuse for the operation and management of the Legends Fields commencing with the 2018 softball season. The company proposes to refurbish the sports diamonds as well as repair the buildings at the complex. Moreover, they will organize softball leagues and provide a facility manager to oversee daily operations.
Cheryl A. White, 61, of Mexico, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Community General Hospital in Syracuse, after a long illness, surrounded by her loving children, grandchildren and sisters.
On Monday (March 19) morning, Shawn Whaley, 24, appeared before the Hon. James McCarthy, Oswego County Supreme Court, and pleaded guilty to the entire indictment that was filed against him. Whaley, whose jury trial was scheduled to begin Monday, pleaded guilty to 13 separate offenses, including six felonies that occurred in the town of Albion during the summer of 2017.
