Oswego County Fire Coordinator Reminds Residents of State Burn Ban

Oswego County Fire Coordinator Donald Forbes reminds county residents of the annual statewide ban on all open burning which is in effect across New York State during the high fire-risk period of March 16 through May 14. “Even as snow continues to fall, spring is not far away. As tall grass, hay and brush dry, outdoor fires will occur,” said Forbes.

The Oswego County RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services) will again host a SKYWARN spotter training seminar conducted by Jon Hitchcock of the National Weather Service Buffalo office. In recognition of March as Colon Cancer Awareness Month, Oswego County Opportunities Cancer Services Program reminds us that regular screenings are vital to the early detection of colon cancer. “Raising awareness of colon cancer is of the utmost importance,” said Carolyn Handville, coordinator of OCO’s Cancer Services Program. “Colon cancer can be prevented and early detection is one of the keys.”
