SUNY Oswego University Police arrested an Oswego resident on a motor vehicle felony and related charges today (March 16). Rachel E. Johnson, 24, was charged with driving while intoxicated with a previous DWI conviction, a Class E felony.
Doris Garber, a speech teacher in Fulton from 1972 to 1983, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018, in Connecticut at the age of 90.
He allegedly left the victim who has been deemed physically disabled, unattended in a transport van, secured in place with no way to exit the vehicle in case of emergency while he entered a business in the city of Fulton and consumed an alcoholic beverage in the men’s room on June 8, 2017.
Oswego County Fire Coordinator Donald Forbes reminds county residents of the annual statewide ban on all open burning which is in effect across New York State during the high fire-risk period of March 16 through May 14. “Even as snow continues to fall, spring is not far away. As tall grass, hay and brush dry, outdoor fires will occur,” said Forbes.
Bicknell Racing Products has partnered with the New York Dirt Kart Series for the 2018 season with their sights set on helping to develop future racers. Since its inception, the NYDKS has taken pride in its Junior racing divisions and it will again be a focal point in 2018.
The Oswego County RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services) will again host a SKYWARN spotter training seminar conducted by Jon Hitchcock of the National Weather Service Buffalo office. The training session will be held in Fulton, at the Oswego County Office of Emergency Management, 200 N. Second St., on March 21 at 7 p.m.
In recognition of March as Colon Cancer Awareness Month, Oswego County Opportunities Cancer Services Program reminds us that regular screenings are vital to the early detection of colon cancer. “Raising awareness of colon cancer is of the utmost importance,” said Carolyn Handville, coordinator of OCO’s Cancer Services Program. “Colon cancer can be prevented and early detection is one of the keys.”
