On Thursday, April 12, 2018, in the Oswego County Legislative Chambers, the Oswego County Legislative body passed resolution # 4. The significance of this resolution is that it approved the hiring of a firm from Saratoga Springs to come to Oswego County and train up to 50 county employees a course called “Basics of Grant Writing.”
SUNY Oswego alumna Dr. Hilary McManus will return to campus to discuss her role in a global initiative for women in science and her February journey to Antarctica at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, April 26. The lecture in Room 175 of the Shineman Center, part of the college’s Feinberg Lecture Series, is free and open to the public. Parking will be available in Lot 8, along Washington Boulevard in front of the Shineman Center.
Senate Agriculture Committee chair Patty Ritchie is announcing that the new state budget includes $5 million for upgrades to county and youth fairs to attract more visitors, enhance agriculture education and support local economies.
SUNY Oswego will convene three ceremonies to honor its class of 2018 at the college’s 157th Commencement on Saturday, May 12, in the Marano Campus Center. Accomplished alumni will serve as the keynote speaker at each of the ceremonies.
“Made in NY,” a highly competitive annual juried show featuring contemporary artists who live and work in New York State, opens Friday, April 20, at the Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn. Among the artists included in the show are two from the Oswego area.
St. Luke Health Services played host to an end of the semester “Mardi Gras Bash” social event, put on by the SUNY Oswego Adopt-A-Grandparent program. Seniors from across the county were welcomed by student chaperones.
With an interest in public service, SUNY Oswego junior political science and history major Connor Breese is set to participate in the prestigious Junior Summer Institute program at Princeton University through the Public Policy and International Affairs Program.
Erin Lohnas will begin holding workshops on using 3D printers next month. These workshops will include allowing patrons to see how the software Cura works and interacts with the printer (the library has a Lulzbot Mini 3D Printer), along with printing demonstrations and tutorials on how to use them safely.
This soulful wild-child is looking for someone who is willing to love her on her terms. Like many cats, Cher does not like to be picked up, because she’s, you know, “catty.” She does like you to pet her and sweet-talk her about how beautiful she is. (And don’t we all?)
