3 SUNY Oswego Alumni Honored At Special Event For EOP Founder

The three SUNY Oswego alumni — Kendis Gibson, Trudy Perkins and Catherine Santos — were among 50 given distinguished honors at the celebration. Perkins and Santos were present for the event. The April 14 event at Buffalo State College was a culmination of a yearlong celebration of the 50th anniversary of EOP.

Magician Paul Antonio, Ghanaian Drumming, songstress Emalee Herrington, Mexico Brass and Fritz’s Polka Band followed by up-close and personal fireworks by Young Explosives will all be part of Mexico Point Park’ s annual free Lakeside Concert and Fireworks on July 8. It all starts at 1 p.m.

Oswego County Youth Court Looking for New Members

Oswego County Youth Court is reaching out to those interested in becoming members for the upcoming academic year. Youth Court is a program aimed at reducing juvenile delinquency in Oswego County. The program is a “trial by peers” process for offenders between the ages of seven and 18, who are charged with various crimes.

Veterans Agency Announces New Office Hours And Facebook Page

Jamie Hamlin, the newly-appointed director of Oswego County Veterans’ Services, has announced new hours for the office located in the County Branch Office Building, 200 N. Second St., Fulton. The office will now be open weekdays from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. It will be closed from noon to 1 p.m.

Safe Haven Holocaust Refugee Shelter Museum Plans Open House June 24

The Safe Haven Holocaust Refugee Shelter Museum will hold an open house to commemorate World Refugee Day on June 24, from 2 to 4 p.m. Admission is free. Oswego holds its own place in history having had the only refugee shelter in the United States during World War II.
