Sandra Scott Travels: Remembering ‘The Man Who Built America’

Frank Lloyd Wright was an American architect, interior designer, writer and educator who designed more than 1,000 structures, of which 532 were completed. He is touted at America’s greatest architect and “The Man who Built America.” His architectural style was a reaction to the stuffy, ornate, and crowded look of the Victorian era. He felt buildings should be inspired by the land and that there should be fewer rooms and that they should flow from one to another.

Historian and Oswego native Tom Ebert brings his expertise back to Fort Ontario State Historic Site for a presentation about the American Civil War in the Trans-Mississippi West. The talk begins at 7 p.m. on August 15 in the Enlisted Men’s Barracks inside the old stone fort. Admission is free. For details, call 315-343-4711.

Civil War historian and Oswego native Tom Ebert returns to Fort Ontario State Historic Site on East Fourth Street in Oswego to talk about the American Civil War in the West. The program begins at 7 p.m. Aug. 15 in the Enlisted Men’s Barracks inside the old stone fort. It is free and open to the public.
