Did you know that you can go to a website called SciStarter.com and sign up to receive information about how to participate in science projects all over the world that are looking for citizen participation? SciStarter has hundreds of such projects on every topic imaginable, but if you search under the category of animals and then specify dogs or cats you will find specific research looking at aspects of companion animals, pet behavior, pet health, and one project that studies the ability of people to accurately identify breeds of dog in a mixed breed dog (Hint: Most people are terrible at it.)

‘Combative Patient’ Taken Into Custody
At approximately 2:16 p.m. today (September 3), Oswego Police were dispatched to the area of Orville Street near East Twelfth Street in the city of Oswego to assist EMS with a combative patient. Prior to police arrival the patient allegedly threatened EMS and then threatened suicide. The patient did not allowed police or EMS to enter his residence.

Eight-Time Champion Wins Fifth Oswego Classic
Otto Sitterly put an exclamation point on an incredible season at the Oswego Speedway on Sunday night, adding a fifth International Classic 200 win to the eighth Novelis supermodified track championship he’d earned just two weeks ago. Sitterly finished the 2018 season winning five of the final seven races, including the last three on Oswego’s schedule.

United Way To Kick Off Annual Campaign
United Way of Greater Oswego County officially begins its 2019 Annual Campaign with a kick-off breakfast on Sept. 12 at the American Foundry in Oswego. The event will introduce the theme to this year’s United Way Campaign, “We Live United…United We Live.”
