Teens Encouraged to Learn about ‘Molly,’ Help Combat Synthetic Drug Crisis

The VOW Foundation, Inc., will present an informational workshop for teens and parents to learn more about ‘Molly,’ a synthetic drug currently in circulation. The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on October 10 in the training room of the Oswego County Health Department at 70 Bunner St. in Oswego. Participants are asked to enter through the main doors on the west side of the building.

DIRTcar Pro Stock 50 Culminates with a Drag Race to the Checkers

The NAPA Super DIRT Week DIRTcar Pro Stock 50 ended on Sunday with a drag race to the finish after C.D. Beauchamp gave leader Chuck Dumblewski a tap off turn four to conclude a 50-lap battle a mere .017 seconds ahead. The competition heated up on Saturday afternoon with Time Trials as Fonda Speedway regulars Dumblewski and Josh Coonradt laid down a pair of Fast Times, only .008 seconds apart from each other, to set themselves on the front row for Sunday’s feature event.

Pet of the Week – Dirt Bike

Dirt bike got his name because he looked super rough around the edges and was very dirty when he was found. He also looked like he had suffered an eye injury before he was rescued. But, he has healed up fine with lots of good care and medications and there is no sign of any impairment to his sight. He cleaned up nicely too, didn’t he?

October Guest Chef Dinner at Oswego County Salvation Army

Steve Canale, Alison Scanlon, and their staff of the Press Box, will be providing the next Guest Chef Dinner for the Oswego County Salvation Army on October 16, with service starting at 4:30 p.m., for dining in or taking out, at the Center for Worship and Service, 73 W. Second St. Their menu for the evening will be meat loaf, their famous macaroni and cheese, and coleslaw.

County Recognizes Granby Bicentennial

The Oswego County Legislature recently recognized the town of Granby on its bicentennial. The town was officially formed on April 20, 1818. Farming and industry were the foundation of this 46-square mile township.
It was once a shipping depot for vegetables bound for New York City and hosted trades such as paper manufacturing and cigar-making.
