Community Workshop On Processing Trauma Set Oct. 20

A solutions-oriented workshop for survivors of trauma, support givers and all who work with them will take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 20 in the rectory classrooms of the Church of the Resurrection in Oswego. “Processing Trauma: Managing Its Effects in a Stressful World” will address how survivors and those who support them can partner in ways that lead to healing and happiness.

Ke-Nekt Chamber Performances To Display Global Influences In 2018-19 Season

SUNY Oswego’s signature chamber series, Ke-Nekt, will take audiences on a journey of music from around the world during the 2018-19 season’s five performances. The season starts this month with a concert paying homage to America’s women composers and to the women’s suffrage movement. It ends in late March as a virtuoso plays a traditional Japanese instrument.

Early Cancer Detection Saves Lives

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women. According to the New York State Department of Health, more than 15,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and almost 2,600 women die from the disease each year in New York State. Early detection, however, has played a tremendous role in saving lives and allowing many people to live cancer free for years after initial diagnosis. According to the American Cancer Society, an estimated 90 out of 100 women survive breast cancer for five years or more after being diagnosed thanks to early detection.
