Submitted by the Fulton Memorial Day Salute committee

The 30th annual Fulton Memorial Day Salute celebration, Friday and Saturday, May 27th & 28th, 2011 will be held at the Fulton Community Center on West Broadway. As in the past years, the event will feature the biggest and the best Saturday morning parade, local and national music groups, a great food court, drinks, face painting, a magician and rides. All entertainment is offered free to the public.

The theme for 2011 is “Proud To be An American”. John McGraw, honored 2011 Veteran of the Year, will serve as the Grand Marshal of the Saturday parade. Friday evening will feature the G. Ray Bodley High School Jazz Band at 5 PM, the Music of Rick Bush at 6 PM, followed at 7 PM by Dr. Boogie, a well known Central New York band. The evening will conclude with fireworks over the lake at 10 PM.

Oswego County’s biggest parade will begin Saturday’s festivities at 10:00 AM and will feature about ten bands among which are many returning entries including the Fulton High School Band, City of Syracuse Highland Pipe Band, The Central New York Fire and Police Band, The Island Band and the Central Square Middle School Marching Band. At 12 Noon, parade bands will be featured in the Community Center on the Fulton Savings Bank Stage. Awards will be given for winning parade entries.

Hayley Starr will return to do face painting and balloon animals for the children . At 2 PM, performing on the Fulton Savings Bank Stage will be The Off Broadway Dancers followed by The Magic of Virgil at 3:30 PM and the Fulton Community Band at 5 PM. At 6 PM, the musical stylings of L A Rising will round out a not—to-be missed Saturday Afternoon.

On Saturday evening at 8:00 PM, Memorial Day Salute is pleased to present ORLEANS on our stage. ORLEANS is an American pop-rock band best known for its hits “Dance With Me” (1975), “Still The One” (1976) and “Love Takes Time” (1979) and was formed in Woodstock, New York in February 1972. We promise you an evening of great musical fun mixed with warm nostalgia.
