OSWEGO — President Deborah F. Stanley of SUNY Oswego invites one and all from the community to share in the college’s recreational opportunities during Cruisin’ the Campus at the Holidays, Dec. 23 to Jan. 26.
“If you are home for the holidays or in the region year round, SUNY Oswego has many exciting and engaging activities and venues for families and individuals to explore and enjoy,” Stanley said. “Cruisin’ the Campus is a new program, beginning Dec. 23, offering everyone a variety of recreational and entertainment options on our campus during times when most of our students and faculty are taking a break from regular classes.”
The college welcomes the public to try the new planetarium in the Richard S. Shineman Center for Science, Engineering and Innovation, the rejuvenated Romney Field House track, Rice Creek Field Station’s nature trails and various other opportunities for recreation — many of them free.
Parking is free for those taking advantage of Cruisin’ the Campus at the Holidays.
Following are SUNY Oswego’s facilities and opportunities, times and days for public enjoyment. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Exercise
Romney Field House track (free for walking and running, bring dry sneakers): 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 23 to Jan. 3 (closed Christmas and New Year’s days); 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. weekdays starting Jan. 6, when tennis — but no track — will be available on Thursdays.
Campus Center arena open skate ($3 admission, $2 skate rental): 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 29 to 31; 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sundays starting Jan. 5.
Lee Hall gymnasium (free, bring dry sneakers): noon to 4 p.m. weekdays from Dec. 23 to Jan. 3 (closed Christmas and New Year’s days); 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays starting Jan. 6.
