OSWEGO, NY – Despite the frigid weather conditions the effort to raise funds for Oswego Harborfest continued with a successful chicken barbeque on February 7.
Members of the Oswego Harborfest Board of Directors rallied around the project and throughout the afternoon hundreds of local residents visited Gibby’s Irish Tavern to take home the Gibby Thompson prepared chicken, salt potatoes and spicy corn.

Board members and Harborfest volunteers packed the take home containers and were kept busy throughout the afternoon.
Harborfest Executive Director Doug Buske said, “I would like to thank everyone in the area for coming on a chilly day to support Oswego Harborfest. This was a tremendous success and we could not achieve our goals without your support.”
Continuing he noted, “I would also like to thank the members of the board who participated in this fundraiser. It is through their efforts that we are able to conduct one of the largest free music festivals in the nation. Their involvement is critical in the support of Harborfest.”
Buske also had a special thanks for Gibby Thompson, owner of Gibby’s Irish Pub, who volunteered his cooking expertise and business to play host to the event.
Fundraising continues for the July 23-26 festival.
Business and marketing opportunities as well as individual memberships are the main funding resources for this annual event.

Carol Dillabough is the sponsorship coordinator and can be reached for further information at 315-343-7120 or [email protected]
Membership coordinator Cindy Loughrey is available at 343-2295 or [email protected]
Buske said, “Both Carol and Cindy are making contacts throughout the area, but in case they missed someone who would like to become involved in Harborfest, I would encourage a phone call or email to them and they will contact those interested persons or businesses as quickly as possible.”
