Wood Carving At Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center

AMBOY – Penny Kimball, an Oswego County artist, will return to the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center to teach Wood Carving in the Round as part of the Center’s Nature Inspires series. This hands-on class will be on April 17 and will begin at 2 p.m.

Participants will be using chisels, gouges, and a mallet to create the delicate nuthatch shown. Carving tools and supplies will be provided; however, participants may bring their own set of tools if desired.

Kimball, resident of Orwell, started carving a few years ago.

Her initial purpose for learning to carve was to create marionette heads for her puppets. However, now she has fallen in love with this art form and wants to carve everything.

The program fee for this artistic workshop is $8 per person and pre-registration is required since seating is limited.

For safety reasons, the class is only open to individuals 12 years of age and older.

Wood Carving in the Round is being held at the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center located on State Route 183 in eastern Oswego County.
