FULTON – While most other boys his age wish for a birthday filled with gifts of toys and other entertainment, Mikey Doney’s sixth birthday will be one he may long remember. Not for the presents he received, but for the presents he gave to others.
Mikey decided that he would mark his sixth birthday by asking family and friends for gifts he would in turn donate to the residents of Michaud Residential Health Services. And so after cake and ice cream to celebrate his birthday, the kindergartener and his mother Renee made the trip to Michaud, a local skilled nursing and rehabilitation residence, to share his birthday wish with the residents.
The gifts he donated include a selection of games, puzzles and other items that are always in demand – and appreciated by Michaud residents.
“The idea to donate his birthday gifts to the residents of Michaud was his own idea,” said proud mom Renee. “He told me, ‘Mom I already have a lot of toys and I want to do something nice for someone else.’”
“Truly, the generosity and thoughtfulness displayed by this young man can be inspiration for us all,” said Michaud Administrator Mike Schafer. “On behalf of all the residents who will benefit from Mickey’s generosity, we say thank you.”

Nice Job Mikey!
Thank you so much Mikey. A group of residents and I played Scrabble a few days ago. We had so much fun.
You are such a caring young man Mikey! I am soooo proud of you! I can’t believe you are six already! Your generosity is amazing!
