The event was held December 2 and 3 and benefited Palermo families in need.

The drive was done at the school because it has had such great success in previous years.

This was Mrs. Donath’s and Mrs. Doria’s second year hosting the coat drive.

Many coats were donated along with snow pants, boots, gloves and hats.

Close to sixty coats were handed out during the two days and the AmeriCorps members were still filling needs in the weeks to follow.

All remaining coats and gear were donated to Palermo Methodist Church and given to community members in need.

Mrs. Donath and Mrs. Doria would like to thank the Fulton Nights of Columbus for their generous donation of many brand new children’s coats; Mrs. Darlys Forbes, Palermo School nurse for making sure every family with a need was taken care of; Mrs. Margaret Scorzelli, Palermo Principal and Palermo PTC for all their help during the coat drive.

AmeriCorps members address critical needs in communities all across America.

Since 1994 more than 900,000 AmeriCorps members have given 1.2 billion hours of service and impacted the lives of countless citizens.
