Oswego County AmeriCorps and Wisdom Thinkers Network are pleased to announce the first AmeriCorps/Wisdom Thinkers Network connection.
Martha Marshall is completing the first Oswego County AmeriCorps/Wisdom Thinkers Network member service serving as the Oswego County Wisdom Thinkers In-School Coordinator.
AmeriCorps engages more than 75,00 Americans in intensive service each year at nonprofits, schools, public agencies, and community faith-based groups across the country.
“Martha’s commitment and unbridled enthusiasm has been an invaluable asset to our programs. She has brought a wealth of experience and has easily bonded with all our district teams. We look forward to the wonderful things that will grow out of our relationship,” said Ralph Singh, chair and CEO.
Singh and a diverse group of acclaimed thought leaders in business, education, community and religious organizations believe that stories have the power to change the world.
Currently the Wisdom Thinkers Network, Inspiring Oswego County is working to link character Education in school with essential soft skills for employment and life skills for citizenship through a number of programs, to encourage our children to stay in the county and “change the story.”
Marshall is currently providing support in the area of volunteer management and mentoring in a variety of programs.
At the elementary level – Stories To Light Our Way: Embedded Character Education through Wisdom Stories.
Middle and High School programs link project based learning with student generated service learning projects to help solve some of the issues students face such as bullying, group hatred, child hunger and poverty, environmental injustice and more.
Also, oral history projects are being conducted to rebuild the connection between students and elders and the community and have already begun to restore pride in their communities.
Wisdom Thinkers is currently active in the Central Square, Fulton, Hannibal, and Sandy Creek school districts and CiTi program as well as Fulton Community School.
