OSWEGO, NY – Area students in grades 3 through 10 will have the opportunity to audition for a part in a very special youth musical to be presented during Harborfest 2014.
The production this year is Peter Pan the Musical, book, music and lyrics by Piers Chater Robinson, through ITM, Ltd.
The musical follows the beloved children’s classic by J.M. Barrie.
Characters include Peter Pan and the Lost Boys, Wendy, Michael and John Darling, the Indians of Never Never Land and the infamous Captain Hook with his rollicking pirates.
The musical will be under the direction of Bobbie Palange and Rocky Farden.
Farden noted that the production requires between 45 to 50 performers and features speaking parts, singing and dancing.
Auditions for interested children in grades 3 through 10 will be held April 22 or 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the McCrobie Building, 41 Lake St.
Children will be asked to sing “America” (My country ‘tis of thee) and “Happy Birthday” as well as do a little reading.
Previous theater experience is not required.
Peter Pan the Musical features an array of colorful costumes and scenes and will be performed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Harborfest with performances on the Children’s Stage at West Park.
Times of the performances are still being finalized.
The play is part of the entertainment to be presented at the Children’s Park during Harborfest.
