The 32nd Annual Fulton Service Clubs’ Memorial Day Salute Parade is
scheduled for May 25 at 10 a.m. The parade theme this year is “America, United We Stand.” Once again this year, we are pleased to have the participation of B104, Tom Owens, long-time on air Clear Channel radio personality.

Benjamin Valentino, following the lead of his parents, uncle and brother in geology, will talk about impact on the Fallbrook aquifer of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s $62,000 habitat restoration project, intended to provide six miles of passage for brook trout and
American eel along Rice Creek.

Moving into the final days of preparation, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is set to run for two performances only, April 12 at 7pm and April 13 at 2 p.m. with a final dress rehearsal preview April 11 at 7 p.m. The all youth production is produced by CNY Arts Center as part of their Kids Onstage theatre program for youth ages 7-15.

A great afternoon is lined up for the NRG Oswego Harbor Power “Lakeview Stage” in Breitbeck Park on Sunday July 28, as the 26th version of the festival comes to a close. Closing out the day on the NRG Lakeview Stage will be “Real Diamond,” which is a professional band, dedicated to the faithful re-creation of the live Neil Diamond experience.

Local residents with items from spring cleaning they want to get rid of while supporting a community cause are invited to donate them to Port City Roller Derby for the non-profit organization’s Let’s Get Ready to Rummage Sale on April 27. The sale will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Cove, the organization’s facility at Oswego’s Midtown Plaza.

During the long winter months  we might be tempted to think about spring
and summer in far off, distant ways. But really, the good times of summer are not that far away starting with Fulton’s Memorial Day Salute May 24 and 25.

One of the great joys of community theatre, besides the satisfaction it gives to oneself, is watching a young person’s enthusiasm. In the Oswego Players’ current production, “The Best Man,” the part of Sheldon Marcus is played by a very special young person, Norman Berlin III.

For Kelly Newton of Granby, exercise isn’t just a good idea. It could save a life. For the last year, she has been gaining strength and losing weight so she can be healthy enough to donate a kidney to a friend in need of a transplant.
