Raising a child with emotional or mental health challenges can be difficult. To help families better cope Catholic Charities of Oswego County offers two programs that provide support to both parents and siblings, Family Education and Partnership and Family Support Services.
The Oswego Alumni Association and the Laker baseball team will welcome back former players, families, friends and fans for a special reunion Sept. 21 to 23. Anyone who has ever been associated with the Oswego State baseball legacy, either on the field, in the stands or elsewhere, is invited to take part in a golf tournament, special dinner honoring the late David “Agarn” Crisafulli and an alumni game.
The family-friendly walk will begin at 6:30 p.m. that day at Oswego’s East Park. Zombies will make their way across the bridge along Route 104, ending at Greene’s Ale House, 104 W. Bridge St.
This week, Little Lukes Preschool and Childcare Center in Oswego celebrates 10 years of preschool and childcare. Children celebrated with a week of fun and learning surrounding the number 10.
SUNY Oswego, moving to increase already substantial opportunities for student research and creative projects, has established an office to provide support and pique student interest in hands-on, faculty-mentored work.
Citizens living along Lake Ontario and its tributaries are being invited to provide input at a series of six Lake Ontario Basin Communities Visioning for a Healthy Lake workshops September 24-29.
Each first-year student will participate in St. Lawrence University’s innovative First-Year Program, an introduction to the liberal arts curriculum taught in residence halls by faculty teams.
The event will be held Sept. 29 and 30 beginning at 11 a.m. each day at Washington Square Park. The event was scheduled a week earlier than usual to coincide with the New York State Canal Conference being held in Oswego.
Guest speaker for this milestone event will be broadcast journalist Garrick Utley, who was named a senior fellow and professor of broadcasting and journalism at SUNY Oswego’s School of Communication, Media and the Arts.
To be held Saturday, September 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fulton War Memorial the event will host more than 20 organizations that serve area youth.
