Columbus Replica Ships to Visit Oswego

The Nina and the Pinta replica ships.The ships will be in Oswego’s Historic Maritime District for the public to visit, 9 am – 6 pm, Thursday, July 14 through Sunday, July 17, 2011. The Museum and its vessels will be open the same hours. Friday July 15th will be Kids Day with activities geared towards youth.

Ritchie Joins Gov. Cuomo for Tax Cap Signing Ceremony

Senator Patty Ritchie joins other state lawmakers Wednesday to watch Gov. Andrew Cuomo signs into law historic Tax Cap legislation that reins in runaway property taxes. The bill signing took place at the suburban Syracuse home of taxpayers Christopher and Tina Maroney. The Governor later presented Sen. Ritchie with the pen that he used to sign the new law.Senator Patty Ritchie joined Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo Wednesday at a bill signing ceremony to mark the enactment of New York’s new “Property Tax Cap,” an historic measure that will protect homeowners and businesses from runaway tax hikes, help strengthen the state’s economy and create jobs.

Head Start Pre-K Accepting Applications

Students at OCO Head Start’s Pinewoods Center brushing their teeth after breakfast.   Children in Head Start Pre-K are served meals, participate in toothbrushing, and go outside daily (weather permitting) as part of the program.Oswego County Head Start Pre-K continues to accept applications for September. The program enrolls three- and four-year-old children and has locations throughout Oswego County. Head Start’s goal is promoting school readiness through hands-on learning experiences, active play, and nutritious meals and snacks.
