The Preservation League of New York State is seeking support for its efforts to protect the historic Tug Urger and other Erie Canal vessels that provide an authentic link to the past. The League recently learned that the New York State Canal Corporation, under the New York Power Authority, has plans to beach the tugboat Urger, flagship of the Erie Canal and beloved “teaching tug.”

Oswego County Sheriff’s depities were dispatched to a car/pedestrian motor vehicle accident on Norman Avenue, south of Spring Street in the village of Mexico at 2:09 a.m. today (August 1). The accident reportedly involved serious injury. .The incident remains under investigation.

At about 9 this morning (Saturday, July 28), Oswego Police were dispatched to a call of a male who could be heard yelling in the area of East Second Street near Hubbard Street. Oswego Police arrived on-scene and tracked the subject to the bank of the Oswego River near Lock 7. The subject was located in the river.
