The Mexico Historical Society, the caretaker of museum’s artifacts for the 40 plus years since the transfer of the original collection to the society from the Mexico High School Museum, has been unable to open the museum due to a dispute with the Town of Mexico, owner of the museum building.

Recently, U.S. Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer, during an in-person meeting with Acting Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy James Carroll, urged him to grant Oswego County’s request to be designated as a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area.

The Oswego County Health Department announced today (July 20), that a gray fox captured in the town of Albion along Albion Cross Road has tested positive for rabies. The animal approached a dog on a porch and attacked on Saturday, July 14. Two people were also involved and are currently being treated. The dog is up-to-date on his rabies vaccinations and received a booster shot.

Here comes the bride…on skates! The Great New York State Fair is launching a contest to find a couple who would like to get married at the 2018 Fair. While there have been engagements and weddings on the Ferris Wheel and at various other places on the Fairgrounds, it’s certain there’s never been anything like this: A wedding on ice.

The Northeast USA Airspace Integration Research Alliance is in the process of building an air corridor to assist in testing unmanned aircraft. The Oswego County Airport is now part of that research corridor, which includes Hancock International Airport in Syracuse and Griffiss International Airport in Rome.

On July 10, State Police arrested Mitchell Pallone, 33, of Syracuse, for Forcible Touching (A – misdemeanor), Sex Abuse 2nd degree (A – misdemeanor) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (A -misdemeanor). Pallone is accused of having forcible sexual contact with a girl less than 14 years old on July 8 in the town of Richland.

The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating several thefts from vehicles, as well as entry and theft from a home in the town of Scriba. On Saturday, Drew M Pelkey, 27, of Oswego, was arrested for his alleged involvement in these incidents.

On July 12 at 3:02 p.m., deputies arrested Robert F. Goutermout Jr., 36, of 262 Owens Road, Fulton, for two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, a class D felony and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
