The proposed budget is $65,259,100, and is a 4.6% increase over the current budget. This proposal also includes a 1.5% increase to the local tax levy. “It takes a lot of forethought to make sure the budget is efficient and fair for our students’ education and fair for members of the community,” the superintendent said.
On May 3, individuals involved in law in Oswego County ranging from judges to lawyers to law secretaries gathered in the Oswego County Courthouse to recognize Law Day. The afternoon was organized by Oswego County Bar Association President Kristin Shanley. Members of Oswego Players took to the front of the courtroom to stage an adaptation of “Susan B,” a play by Gary Paul Lehmann.

If this procedure continues to prove successful it means a lot of horses could be treated and find forever homes.
Every chair was full recently at the Sterling Nature Center as a large group gathered for the center’s semi-annual poetry reading. The afternoon included readings by featured poets as well as an open mic where members of the community could sign up to read.
Volunteers could be spotted hauling trash bags all over Fulton on Saturday morning in celebration of Mayberry Day. The day is a collaboration between the city of Fulton and the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce’s Fulton Project Bloom committee. Its mission, to clean up the debris in the city left over from the long winter months.
Fulton residents may have noticed construction vehicles outside the former Nestles complex along Fay Street. According to Mayor Ron Woodward, the most recently constructed building, which was built in 1995, is being taken down. The current owner of site, Ed Palmer, has received permits from the city of Fulton for this project.
Residents of Hannibal are encouraged to clean up their lawns this weekend. Any leaves, stray branches, brush, cuttings or anything that grows are welcome to be bagged and placed curbside. Any color garbage bags are acceptable. On May 6 crews will be out picking up the bags free of charge.
On December 28, 2012, the Oswego County Legislature passed a reapportionment plan, which re-drew the boundaries of the county’s 25 legislative districts. This plan received opposition back in December and today (April 30), Legislator Dan Farfaglia announced he and fellow Democrat legislators Amy Tresidder and Doug Malone seek to have the redistricting plan declared illegal.
At the recent Common Council meeting, it was announced that Senator Patty Ritchie was able to obtain $200,000 to put towards the Lake Neatahwanta cleanup effort. The money will be split evenly between the city of Fulton and town of Granby. Once the lake is clean, the goal is for families to use it again.
“I think it’s going to rock some people’s worlds,” said Dr. Clay Price, SUNY Oswego Director of Choral Activities. The piece he’s referring to is Dona Nobis Pacem by Ralph Vaughn Williams, which will be performed by the Festival Chorus.
