On Friday (Aug. 8) afternoon Joe Fiumara, director of the Fulton Community Revitalization Corp (FCRC) opened the sealed bid packages to select the company to begin dredging the accumulated sludge from the lake bottom. “Groh Dredging is $118,965.20,” Fiumara read from the bid pack. “That’s in the budget,” Mayor Ron Woodward said.
In his court appearance Monday, Zachary Scott, pleaded guilty to one count of first degree burglary, conditioned upon a sentence of 19 and a half years in prison, along with 5 years parole in full satisfaction of the six murder, robbery and burglary charges against him.
In addition to the prison sentence, District Attorney Gregory Oakes said, “As a condition of the plea, he must testify truthfully and completely against his two codefendants, should those matters go to trial.”

A confession allegedly made to state police by one of the teenagers accused of robbing and killing a Granby man can be used as evidence in a jury trial. In his decision, Judge Donald Todd said, “The court finds the defendant made his statements voluntarily and they were obtained in a manner that did not violate his state or federal constitutional rights.”
The police who collected the confession of the teenager accused of stabbing a Granby man to death went under the microscope Monday during a Huntley/Dunaway hearing in Oswego County Court.

A whole generation ago the city of Fulton was forced to close Stevenson Beach and North Bay Beach on Lake Neatahwanta during the middle of a summer dry spell and heat wave because the lake’s water could make people sick.
“The unique focus of this training is to bring area resources together with state and federal partners to review accepted practices for interoperable communications,” Oswego County E-911 Director Michael Allen said. “It focuses on the collaboration between various governments and agencies working together to ensure the flow of communication in the event of an emergency.”
