Manufacturing Day Shows Students: Career Path is ‘Alive and Well’

Countywide, proclamations from the City of Oswego, City of Fulton, and Oswego County Legislature proclaimed October 5, 2018 as “Manufacturing Day.” On this day, junior high and high school students from all nine districts throughout the county were invited to a Manufacturing Day event at CiTi Boces to interact with local industries.

Fulton Council Changes Next Meeting Date, Public Hearing Scheduled

The Fulton Common Council has changed its next regular council meeting date from Tuesday, November 6 to be held the following day on Wednesday, November 7 as to not interfere with Tuesday’s general election. Following the public comment portion opening the meeting, a public hearing is scheduled to take place regarding a proposed amendment to Chapter 640 of City Code entitled “Zoning” regarding taxicab companies.

City of Fulton and Fire Department Reach Contract Agreement

The City of Fulton and the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 3063, the union representing Fulton Fire Department, have reached a contract agreement. A resolution unanimously approved by the Fulton Common Council determines salary increases throughout the department for the years of 2018, 2019 and 2020. The department will receive 0.5 percent increase in 2018, one percent increase in 2019, and one percent increase in 2020.

Fulton City School District Universal Pre-Kindergarten students show their pride as they prepare to march in the 33rd Annual Fulton Memorial Day Parade on May 24. The district is currently accepting registrations for the 2014-15 UPK program and will be hosting an open registration night and magic show on June 5.

Fulton Universal Pre-Kindergarten Still Accepting Students

Fulton City School District’s Universal Pre-Kindergarten program is still accepting students for the 2018-2019 school year. UPK is available at no cost to students that turn four-years-old on or before December 1, 2018. New this year, transportation is available for all four-year-old students as per state car seat regulations.

It was 1951 when a sprightly 19-year-old Donald Patrick Sr. set off to serve his country in the Korean War. Now, at 86-years-old, while battling prostate cancer and injuries relative to his service and aging, it’s not often he gets out of the house anymore. After years of wanting to go, the timing was finally right for Patrick Sr. to attend the Honor Flight Syracuse.

Neighbors of ‘Problem House’ Offered Insight From City Officials

Last week, an entire first ward neighborhood came together to express fear for their safety and frustration in their dropping quality of life, allegedly stemming from a “problem house” in their neighborhood. In response, Fulton Police Chief Orlo Green III and FPD Investigator Stephen Lunn joined Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. and members of the Fulton Common Council to address misinformation and answer questions from neighbors in the West Second Street and Phillips Street area. The house in question, 102 W. Second St., is an owner-occupied multi-family property.

Fulton Third Ward Meeting Set Sept. 27

The quarterly meeting for Fulton’s third ward will take place Thursday (Sept 27) at Lanigan Elementary School located at 59 Bakeman St. In the school library, the meeting will be held from 6:30 – 8 p.m. Third Ward councilor and common council president, Donald Patrick Jr. said the meeting will discuss recent rental property code changes.

POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony Brings Special Announcement from One Fulton Family

On this National POW/MIA Recognition Day 2018 (Sept 21,) the Fulton Veterans Council hosted a remembrance ceremony for all Prisoners of War (POW) and Missing in Action (MIA) service members as well as all victims of September 11, 2001. As speakers took to the podium one by one to pay tribute to all POW/MIA service members, a special guest in the audience was preparing to deliver some positive news.
