Flu Season Arrived Early But Not As Bad As Other Areas

The flu arrived in Central New York early and the numbers are high this year, according to Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang. The county has seen an increased number of lab confirmed flu cases compared with the same time last season, Huang told Oswego County Today. So far this flu season, Oswego Health is not experiencing the number of flu cases that its neighboring counties are encountering, an OH spokesperson pointed out.

Council OKs Memorial For Oswego Safety Advocate

The Oswego Common Council sailed through a light agenda. The council accepted the donation of a memorial bench in memory of Billie Crandall Brady, recognizing her dedication to the Oswego Community. She lost her battle with cancer on Feb. 1, 2017. Her husband, Dennis, requested the bench be placed in Breitbeck Park. Councilors also approved seeking a grant to enhance the city’s animal shelter.

Firefighters Battle Early-Morning Blaze In Fulton

The Fulton Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 312 E. Broadway around 1:30 a.m today (Jan. 9). When firefighters arrived, they found flames coming out of the attic and rear roof section of the two-story wood frame apartment building. The building has multiple apartments. All occupants reportedly were able to get out safe.
