Oswego Mayor William Barlow Jr. said he authorized the iron fence surrounding City Hall be taken down. The fence was in bad shape with several missing parts on the West First Street side and it caused a safety concern, he said. A former alderman has a different opinion, however.

Merle is a big lovey handsome young fella whose current job is “office cat.” He is totally in charge of all business operations, goes from lap to lap and computer to computer making sure that his directions are followed and that he gets the respect and attention (and kisses) he deserves. In spite of his huge responsibilities, he is laid back and totally easy-going.
The annual “Walk for Autism” drew a big crowd to Leighton Elementary School and the nearby Wilber Field on Saturday afternoon. Besides acting as a fundraiser, the event, sponsored by the task force, also focused attention on the plight of Autism victims in Oswego County.

The Oswego County Legislature voted Thursday to approve a tax agreement, ending several years of litigation over assessment of the FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant. There were two public hearing on the local law and ensuing tax deal. However, no one spoke at either.
The local law allows the county to enter into a proposed five-year tax agreement with Entergy for the FitzPatrick plant. It takes effect Jan. 1, 2017 and expires at 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2021.
The idea of an Oswego County Autism Task Force was to bring parents, schools, the medical community and other community partners together to provide support to families, in Oswego County, who have received the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. The organization’s annual “Walk For Autism” will be held on Saturday (April 16).
